Plymouth vs Leicester City tips and predictions: Foxes back to winning ways on the road

Enzo Maresca manager of Leicester City

Leicester City will look to put a surprise 1-0 loss to Millwall behind them when they face Plymouth Argyle in the Championship on Friday night (2000 BST)

Leicester, Ipswich and Leeds all failed to score in the midweek round of matches so we’re expecting a response from those sides, starting with City against Plymouth on Friday.

We profited with under 2.5 goals and suggested it would play out similarly to the Bristol City game, in which Enzo Maresca’s side also lost 1-0, but don’t bet on a threepeat.

The hosts are battling away at the bottom of the table and Tuesday’s late goal helped them match Sheffield Wednesday’s result to keep themselves two clear of the drop.

This looks the hardest of their remaining fixture, although not one they’ll roll over in, so a defeat isn’t the end of their survival hopes.

On the other hand, City cannot afford to drop a point, as it could detract from their game in hand, and they’ll face West Brom and Southampton next.

Argyle have gone from being hard to beat at home and one of the most dangerous transition teams in the league, to a pushover that rarely finds the net.

They’ve managed two wins since the turn of February and have scored six in 11 matches, with nine of those featuring under 2.5 goals.

The visitors won their first six away games in all competitions but have won one of their last seven inside 90 minutes, a fortunate 1-0 win against Sunderland.

There’s no doubt that there is a chasm in quality between these sides but dropping points on the road is becoming a habit for Enzo’s men.

Our heads say there’s a chance City bounce back with a vengeance, but both Leeds and Ipswich won 2-0 here recently and had to wait until late in the day to seal it.
