Plymouth vs Leeds tips and predictions: Argyle no pushovers in goal-filled cup clash at Home Park

Leeds United 1-1 Plymouth Argyle, FA Cup

Plymouth Argyle could provide tricky opposition for Leeds United on Tuesday night with an FA Cup Fifth Round clash against Aston Villa or Chelsea on the line.

Wasted opportunities at Elland Road left the door open for Plymouth Argyle to force a replay despite the hosts controlling the play for most of the match.

Adam Randell’s 73rd-minute strike cancelled out Jaidon Anthony’s opener. The Whites would create and miss their two best chances in the final 10 minutes.

Now Daniel Farke’s side faces an unwanted addition of another long trip south to their fixture list wedged before trips to Bristol City and Swansea.

Leeds have found their best form of the season since the turn of the year but Argyle are no pushovers at home, unbeaten in nine of 10 and 11 of 14 in league action.

The visitors have allowed just two goals in seven matches this year but that will be put to the test by the highest-scoring home teams in the league.

Argyle have scored at least two in each of their last eight at home, three in each of their last five and hit Norwich for six earlier in the campaign.

It is worth noting that eight of their next 10 at Home Park feature sides in the hunt for promotion, including five of the current top six, so their fixture list has been kind.

On the other hand, you can only beat what’s in front of you, and they did come within seconds of holding high-flying Southampton to a draw.

The difficulty for Farke’s side is they can ill afford unnecessary injuries ahead of the run-in and the club's desire for a decent cup run has started to fade into the distance so they may opt to rotate.

We can't justify Leeds being such a slim favourite here and would go as far as to say that Plymouth might represent some value, while goals are extremely likely.
