Luton Town vs Fulham tips and predictions: Hatters win not enough to escape relegation

Carlton Morris and Elijah Adebayo

Luton Town will play host to Fulham at Kenilworth Road on Sunday afternoon (1600 BST) as their one-year stay in the Premier League likely comes to an end.

Don’t let it be said that Fulham’s trip to Luton Town on the final day of the Premier League season is a dead rubber because the math says otherwise.

While Marco Silva’s side are already planning their summer holidays, the Hatters aren’t thinking past the 11-0 win required to keep them up.

That’s assuming that Nottingham Forest lose away to Burnley, which is entirely possible. It sounds like a tall order, but the silver lining? Luton would survive by way of goals scored.

It shouldn’t matter that no team has ever won a Premier League fixture by 10 or more goals. Or that the biggest romps, which were 9-0, all belong to Champions League teams.

We’re not sure the Aguero moment can ever be topped. Yet a topless Carlton Morris disappearing into the Oak Road end in celebration, ending up in some poor dear’s back garden as Town score a 12th in injury-time, might just do it.

Fulham have failed to score in their last two matches and centre-back Issa Diop saw red in the 4-0 defeat at Man City, so that should soften the Cottagers up a bit.

Their Premier League season is ending poorly. They’ve won two of 10 and are winless in their last four matches, so a home win is a possibility.

On a serious note, Luton have added so much to the Premier League this season, and it would nice to see them end their journey with a win.

Better teams than Fulham have suffered at the Kenny and it does seem as if Silva’s side have one foot in the sand.

Team news

Tom Lockyer, Issa Kabore, Marvelous Nakamba, Jacob Brown, Amari’i Bell, Dan Potts and Mads Andersen.

Ross Barkley is a doubt.

Issa Diop is suspended after last weekend’s red card.

Sasa Lukic is the only injury concern for Fulham but he may recover in time.
