Lazio vs Juventus tips: Defences exposed in Rome as visitors look to cement top-four spot

Federico Chiesa of Juventus celebrates

With no Serie A action on Easter Sunday, Tipstr pundit Sergiu Baltuta takes a closer look at one of the biggest clashes in Italian football as Juventus visit Lazio on Saturday night (1700 GMT).

Lazio vs Juventus, Serie A, Saturday March 30, kick-off 17:00, live on TNT Sports 1

Key stats:

  • Lazio have conceded in each of their last five games, losing four
  • Juventus are winless in their last three away games
  • Lazio have lost their last three home games
  • Lazio have scored just 14 goals in their 14 home league games this term
  • Before their goalless draw with Genoa, Juve conceded twice in each of their previous 4 games
  • Those four Juve games all produced Over 2.5 goals (three of them Over 3.5 goals)

With three defeats in the last four rounds, Lazio dropped to ninth place in the Serie A league table, while Juventus have also hit a lean patch of form, winning only one of their last eight league games.

Following their elimination from the Champions League, and three consecutive league defeats, the Biancocelesti finally parted ways with head coach Maurizio Sarri, who was replaced by the Croatian Igor Tudor. The former Juventus player will make his debut in charge against the team for whom he played for ten years.

After 29 rounds in Italy, last season’s Serie A runners-up are mid-table with 43 points, although they at least went into the international break in higher spirits, after a brace from Valentin Castellanos earned them a thrilling 3-2 win at Frosinone, who had taken an early lead.

The international break must have come as a welcome breath of fresh air for Juventus, who had managed just one win in the previous eight rounds, a miserable run that saw the Bianconeri slip to third place in the table, three points behind Milan and a whopping 17 behind runaway leaders Inter.

Suggested bet: Both Teams To Score - Yes

In the previous five rounds in Serie A, Juventus had been a real nightmare for anyone backing them, as they managed just a solitary success and three draws. Even more so, their defence has looked uncharacteristically vulnerable, and after conceding only 15 goals in their first 24 games, Juve's defence has been breached eight times in their last five games.

In the reverse fixture, Juventus managed a 3-1 win, thanks to a Dusan Vlahovic double either side of a Federico Chiesa strike, with Luis Alberto netting Lazio’s consolation goal.

Assuming that Juve emerge refreshed from their break and are able to put their most recent form behind them, then they look decent value to get back to winning ways against their inconsistent hosts, with the Draw No Bet option offering the best value.
