Germany vs Ukraine tips and predictions: Goals in Nuremberg as hosts prevail

Germany will play host to Ukraine at the Max-Morlock-Stadion in Nuremberg as the visitors get an early taste of summer football in Deutschland.

Having overcome a period of poor form following a disappointing World Cup campaign, the hosts of Euro 2024 are buoyed by two crucial victories against France and the Netherlands.

Germany won five, drew two, and lost six in a sticky spell of friendly matches after the World Cup, including a 3-2 defeat to Turkey and a 2-0 loss to Austria in March.

Ukraine secured a remarkable qualification for Euro 2024, following consecutive 2-1 victories against Bosnia and Iceland in the playoff matches despite trailing in both.

Both teams have scored and there have been over 2.5 goals in the last three meetings, including a wild 3-3 draw a year ago.

Julian Nagelsmann has left some big names out of his squad, including Mats Hummels, Leon Goretzka, Emre Can, Serge Gnabry and Julian Brandt.

Veterans like Manuel Neuer, who is 38 years old, and Toni Kroos, 34, who recently announced his retirement from football, are part of Germany’s squad.

Ukraine doesn’t have the luxury of omitting players of such quality, but this is a golden generation with the likes of Viktor Tsygankov, Artem Dovbyk, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Mykhailo Mudryk.

The Blue and Yellows have never defeated Die Mannschaft in nine encounters with the Germans winning five times.
