Bristol City vs West Ham: BTTS
Bristol Rovers: Draw no bet (Weds)
Nottingham Forest to win (Weds)
Bristol City vs West Ham United
This is a massive banana skin for the Hammers. If you aren’t familiar, the Robins can be extremely robust and organised, and they have plenty of history in the cup. We fully expect them to score.
Since the Robins beat Man Utd at Ashton Gate in 2017, the Hammers have slipped up against Shrewsbury, Wimbledon, Oxford and, so nearly, Kidderminster. This could be another shock, but we’ll play it safe with goals.
Birmingham City vs Hull City
Saturday’s both teams to score acca saw Birmingham and Swansea share four goals and we expect another open affair here. The underlying numbers suggest both should score.
Indeed, the third-round tie finished 1-1 up North and with nothing to lose in a one-off cup tie, a goal either way should open this contest up.
Eastleigh vs Newport County
We backed Eastleigh to pull off an upset in the first meeting and despite playing with 10 men for 57 minutes, they managed a 1-1 draw. They’re a tough nut to crack at the Silverlake Stadium, where they’re unbeaten in 20 of 25 overall.
County have won three of 10, beating non-league Barnet and strugglers Doncaster and Forest Green. This looks like a very uncomfortable night against a motivated team.
Bristol Rovers vs Norwich City (Weds)
By some metrics, Bristol Rovers are better than their league position. Their positive performances under Matt Tayor have earned them plaudits and they matched Barnsley on Saturday.
Norwich City picked up a crucial win over Hull City last time out. Despite fan discontent, their form isn’t that bad, but Rovers were the better team in the first leg and the Canaries struggle away, winless in nine of 12.
Blackpool vs Nottingham Forest (Weds)
Sky have made their TV selections in the hope of seeing a shock, but we think they’ve picked the wrong game on Wednesday. Forest should be focused and organised as we’re barely a few weeks into Nuno’s reign.
The Seasiders have been very good at home, but Derby and Peterborough have both won here and a lot of the top teams have yet to visit. Forest know what to expect now and should have the quality to win.
