Fabian Schar (hamstring) is a doubt so Jamaal Lascelles is set to replace him. Allan Saint-Maximin is set to miss out, but Bruno Guimaraes should be fit. Anthony Gordon will start on the bench against his former club.
Verdict
Newcastle will travel to Everton in the midst of a fine run which has propelled them into third place.
Eddie Howe's men have put themselves into serious Champions League contention after six wins from seven. Notable home victories over Manchester United and the 6-1 demolition of Spurs have got Tyneside dreaming of Real Madrid and Co. However, they will face a tougher task than against spineless Spurs when they take on Everton at Goodison.
Tottenham laid down and had their tummies tickled at St James' Park, but Sean Dyche's men will be a different proposition.
Newcastle have won seven of their 16 away games and their odds-on quote looks short. Howe's men slipped up at Aston Villa, losing 3-0 in their last away game.
Since the two goalless draws at Arsenal and Crystal Palace, Newcastle have conceded goals on the road. They built their charge over Christmas and New Year on clean sheets, but they have conceded at least one goal in their last five away games.
Howe claimed their recent defeat at Villa Park was their "worst performance of the season", but could they throw in another below-par display after dismantling Spurs?
It's a distinct possibility, especially if Newcastle are without Schar. The Swiss international is a huge doubt and if he does not make it then Lascelles will replace him. This will weaken Howe's rearguard. Lascelles has only played 90 minutes twice in the Premier League this season - in the defeats at Liverpool and Man City - and although Everton are not technically anywhere near those two teams, they will bring plenty of fight.
Lascelles will have to shut out returning Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin. Calvert-Lewin was back against Palace last time out and will lead the line against the Magpies.
The Toffees have won three of their last six at Goodison and they are partial to a 1-0 scoreline. In fact, all three wins over Arsenal, Leeds and Brentford have been by that score. A repeat correct score is priced at 11/1, while the home win is 7/2.
A victory for Everton would be monumental and would lift them clear of the relegation zone. Thursday might just be a night where the team who wants it most gets over the line.
