Euro 2024: Georgia vs Czech Republic tips and predictions – Hamburg to host tight encounter

Georgia and Czech Republic will be fighting for their European Championship survival when the two teams meet in Hamburg this Saturday afternoon (1400 BST).

Qualifying for the Euros was a major achievement for Georgia who had never previously competed at a major tournament.

However, after getting a taste of big-time football on Tuesday, the Georgians will now be looking to make more history and possibly get a win.

Their Euros opener against Turkey was something else. The atmosphere in Dortmund’s Signal Iduna Park surpassed all expectations as the fans put on an ear-shattering spectacle.

Despite all the noise, Georgia certainly gave a good account of themselves. But like any competitive side, giving a good account only goes so far. What the team really want is a win.

Toppling Czech Republic this Saturday will not be straight forward. The Czechs were solid against Portugal and the side were fuming after losing the match in the final moments.

Having won six of their seven internationals heading into the Euros, Ivan Hasek’s men will undoubtedly want to progress out of the groups and see how far their momentum can take them.

Trouble is, getting points against Georgia and Turkey will not be easy.

Georgia have no injury worries ahead of this weekend’s encounter. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Georges Mikautadze will be the two men up front looking to cause problems.

The Czechs are also injury free. Patrik Schick, Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal are all expected to feature.
