Armenia vs Wales verdict

Wales have played just 18 games at a major tournament and 13 of those have come in the past seven years.

The Dragons made a poor start to qualifying, picking up four points from four games and falling to defeats against Armenia and Turkey.

Since then, Rob Page’s side have won back-to-back matches including a massive victory over Croatia. On Saturday, they’ll be aiming to avenge the loss in Cardiff.

It’s safe to assume a victory will just help them stay ahead of Croatia on the head-to-head as they’re likely to beat Latvia.

A win for Armenia would see them catch Wales on 10 points while Croatia would only need a point on the final matchday to break Welsh hearts.

They were the surprise package in the early days of Group D but they’ve suffered three consecutive losses, including a damaging 2-0 reverse against Latvia.

Wales have shown so much spirit in do-or-die situations in recent years that we can’t see past them getting the result they need.

The visitors have held 12 of their previous 15 opponents in European qualifiers to one or fewer goals and good defence has to be the foundation of a result in Yerevan.
