EFL League One Good Friday double: Ipswich and Plymouth look to step up promotion bids

Sunderland versus Wycombe Wanderers at Wembley stadium

Ipswich are on a seven-game win streak, scoring 18 goals without a response
Despite slipping up at Barnsley and Peterborough, Plymouth have won six of their last nine league games

Suggested Bets

Ipswich Town and Plymouth Argyle - win double

Verdict

It seems everyone other than the League One leaders Sheffield Wednesday are bang in form. Ipswich have been chipping away at the gap for a while, and seven straight victories has moved them two points off the pace.
Plymouth have seen a seemingly unassailable lead slowly slip away, but Argyle do remain in very good shape despite conceding the top spot to Sheffield Wednesday.
It isn't that they have ever looked out of form at any stage, but after setting such a blistering pace in the first half of the season, regression was to be expected. And it's allowed the chasing pack to make things interesting.

Barnsley seem to have the toughest task of the promotion-chasing teams on Friday, closely followed by Sheffield Wednesday, who are experiencing a wobble. Ipswich and Plymouth, however, face much simpler tasks.

Town's current form as well as their vastly superior goal difference of +43 does suggest they could end up league winners. Not only have they won seven in a row, but they've also scored 18 while conceding zero.
Wycombe are no pushovers but losing the constant stability provided by Gareth Ainsworth means they are a club in transition. Barnsley, Wednesday, and Plymouth have beaten the Chairboys since Christmas.
After suffering a 3-0 loss at Barnsley and the 4-0 mauling against Bolton in last weekend's EFL Trophy Final, Plymouth might feel like a response is necessary.
They'll travel to face a Morecambe side that are scrapping for every point they can get in the thick of a relegation battle, but scraps have been few and far between for the Shrimpers.
They're starting to concede goals at an alarming rate again. Last week they were soundly beaten by Barnsley, 5-0, and two weeks prior Shrewsbury and Charlton hit them for three and four respectively.
Morecambe have been tricky to beat at home this season, but the fact is they've now won two of their last 15 games. Those were against 17th-place Port Vale and a Bristol Rovers side with an injury crisis.
Plymouth have won handsomely at Oxford, Accrington, and MK Dons so far this season and there's a good chance Morecambe will feel their wrath on Friday.
