EFL midweek acca
Leeds vs Norwich: Over 2.5 goals (Weds)
Oxford vs Barnsley: Over 2.5 goals
Bristol Rovers vs Exeter: Over 2.5 goals
Reading vs Derby: Over 2.5 goals
Leeds United vs Norwich City
This looks like a solid way to kick off the acca. Leeds are capable of running up a score on their day, while Norwich are capable of conceding in bunches.
Southampton, Plymouth, Sunderland and Watford put a combined 16 goals past the Canaries, but they’re also averaging 1.78 on their travels.
There have been over 2.5 goals in eight of nine matches at Elland Road, where Leeds have scored three or more on six occasions.
Oxford United vs Barnsley
There have been over 2.5 goals in Oxford’s last six matches with both teams scoring in five of those. More importantly, there have been over 2.5 goals in nine of 11 at home.
Barnsley are on a run of scoring and conceding in nine straight games and the xG suggests it could continue. Their away games have averaged four goals since October.
Bristol Rovers vs Exeter City
This is always a feisty contest and with the history of proximity of the two sides, the bookmakers seem to expect a more attritional affair.
However, City can’t stop conceding goals. They’re averaging 3.37 goals against through their last eight away. On the other hand, both teams have scored in Rovers’ last 14.
Reading vs Derby County
Reading are in a sorry state but you have to commend the players for ploughing on. They aren’t prolific, but they’ve scored in their last nine and conceded in all but one.
Derby have been flying and their games have been full of goals, so hopefully Saturday’s 0-0 draw with Lincoln means that’s out of their system. They scored 29 in 14 before the draw.
Mansfield Town vs Sutton United
Last but not least, Mansfield host Sutton and while goals are priced as likely, we’re a little concerned about the potential for Town to keep a clean sheet.
The numbers suggest Sutton are good for goals on the road because of a string of lopsided hammerings, so we think a safer bet is for Mansfield to score two or more.
