Cardiff City vs Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn flew into a 2-0 lead against rivals Preston at the weekend and let that position slip by half time but they face a more favourable opponent here.

Still, a 2-2 draw was progress on the back of six straight defeats on the road and, notably, Rovers are conceding more possession under John Eustace.

Cardiff function better without the ball so they may struggle to break down Rovers if they do sit off and prioritise their leaky defence, but on the other hand, the visitors are potent scorers and City have shipped 18 in seven.

Plymouth Argyle vs West Brom

Plymouth have been tricky to beat at home this season. The Green Army have avoided defeat in 12 of 16 but their form has dipped recently.

Except for an impressive 3-0 win over Sunderland, Argyle’s wins have come against teams in a relegation battle or were struggling at the time, like Norwich.

West Brom will be motivated to bounce back from a timid loss against Southampton and we’re just reaching that stage of the season where the cream starts to rise to the top, so we’ll chance an away win.

Southampton vs Hull City

Southampton’s unbeaten run was halted by Bristol City last week and now they face an equally tricky looking test against Hull City.

The Tigers are in good form with four wins in their last and they’ve posed Leicester and Leeds some problems this season.

However, the Saints are on a nine-game winning streak at home and being that this is a game in hand, this is without doubt the most important game of their season to date.

Reading vs Port Vale

Reading have endured a torrid time on and off the pitch and they’re in a relegation battle, so it’s no surprise that they’re never a heavy favourite despite their current run.

The Royals have won four of five at home and have only lost to Barnsley, Wigan and Portsmouth in their previous 17 matches.

Port Vale are winless in seven, losing five of those, and have spent the entire season underperforming against xG with no turnaround in sight.

Gillingham vs Stockport County

This looks like a tough trip south for league leaders Stockport as they look to avoid a third straight defeat. In the past week, they’ve lost 3-1 to Crewe and 4-0 to Tranmere.

Gillingham are a play-off contender but their form is very inconsistent and they’ve looked more of a threat on their travels in recent weeks.

It’s such a rare occasion when County lose and they’ll be aware of the importance of this game in hand over third-place Crewe.
