Coventry vs West Brom team news

Fabio Tavares, Kasey Palmer, Liam Kelly and Jamie Allen are unavailable for Coventry.

The return of Callum O’Hare from injury should help propel them back to the level of performance we’re used to seeing.

West Brom’s growing injury list sees Cedric Kipre, Semi Ajayi and Connor Townsend unavailable in defence.

Their attacking options have also been decimated with Daryl Dike, Josh Maja, Jeremy Sarmiento and top-scorer John Swift set to miss out.

Coventry vs West Brom verdict

Coventry City were five spot kicks away from a place in the Premier League in May. Fast forward to today, the Sky Blues are teetering above the dropzone.

Mark Robins’ side have beaten Middlesbrough, QPR and Blackburn en route to their 15-point tally which sees them sat eight points off the play-off pace.

Opponents West Brom are the only side outside the top-six to have lost fewer matches (3) than Coventry (4) and could leapfrog sixth-placed Hull with a win.

The Baggies failed to convert one point into three during frustrating 0-0 draws with Plymouth and Millwall, but they have at least shut out the opposition in six of eight.

Despite the appearance of the early league table, Cov are unbeaten at home while West Brom have won one of six on their travels.

The home side has kept a clean sheet in five of the last eight meetings, with both of last season's clashes finishing 1-0 to the hosts.

Carlos Corberan’s side have been good at keeping things tight, but the injuries to Kipre, Ajayi and Townsend are forcing his hand at the back and may give Coventry the edge over West Brom.

The hosts expected goals against tally of 12.7 through 13 games is the second-best in the division so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see them limit the short-handed Baggies.

The hosts will see Monday night as the perfect opportunity to kick-start their campaign. After all, they were languishing near the bottom before last season’s play-off push.
