Servette have started their Swiss league campaign over the weekend and began with an impressive 3-1 win against Grasshoppers.
The result should prove a nice warm-up and give them plenty of confidence ahead of facing a Genk side that is yet to begin their competitive fixtures.
Servette have only played in the Champions League twice before, losing on both occasions. In 1994, they lost to Steaua Bucharest, and in 1999, they lost to Sturm Graz.
They competed in the Conference League and Europa League in 2021/22 and 2020/21, respectively, but were eliminated in the second qualifying round both times.
The hosts finished runners-up in Switzerland last season and have kept their squad largely intact. Despite not losing key players, they have failed to add European quality.

Servette have adjusted well to life under new management, but they have yet to face opponents as well-organized as Genk, who were minutes away from being crowned Belgian champions.
They're likely to perform better in the second leg than in this match but their performances in pre-season do suggest they have the quality to beat Servette.
