Brentford vs Burnley tips and predictions: Forget the form book, goals will fly in the capital

Bryan Mbeumo scores for Brentford

Planet Sport Bet ambassador Robbie Savage is backing Brentford to shake off their stuttering start to the campaign as Burnley make the trip to the capital.

This is a game that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany would have looked at before the start of the season thinking ‘can we take any points from this game’?

When they play the top teams like Man City, like Arsenal, you’re thinking they won’t take many points from those games.

No team in the Premier League has dropped more points from winning positions than Brentford. They’ve dropped 11 points.

But it’s going to be a tough game for Vincent Kompany. I think Brentford at home will nick it 2-1.

Robbie’s Tip: Brentford 2-1 Burnley

Team news

Both teams could put together a half-decent five-a-side team with the names that are currently out of action.

Brentford, for instance, head into the match without Shandon Baptiste, Mikkel Damsgaard, Joshua Dasilva, Mark Flekken, Rico Henry, Kevin Schade and, of course, the suspended Ivan Toney.

Ben Mee has picked up a knock and could also miss out for the Bees.

Burnley, on the other hand, won’t be able to count on Ameen Al Dakhil, Hjalmar Ekdal, Johann Gudmundsson, Manuel Benson, Michael Obafemi and Nathan Redmond.

Key stats

- Brentford have dropped more points form winning positions in the Premier League than any other side this season (11)

- Burnley have won five of the last six meetings

- Brentford have only picked up one win in the Premier League this season

- The Bees are currently on a six-match winless run

Other bets suggested by Planet Sport

Brentford against Burnley is not a fixture that springs to mind when you think of exciting goal fests. But you know what they say – don’t judge a book by its cover.

We’re not exactly sure what’s on this cover, but the fact five of the last seven meetings between the two clubs have produced three or more goals is definitely reason for optimism.

Granted, only two of those fixtures have come in the last seven years. But hey, who says history doesn’t like to repeat itself.

From a betting perspective, the goals market certainly offers possibilities. Brentford’s home Premier League games this term have produced an average of 3.5 goals per match.

Burnley have also been involved in high-scoring contests before the international break. Their 4-0 thrashing of Salford in the Carabao Cup was followed by a 2-0 loss at Newcastle, a 2-1 win at Luton and a 4-1 home defeat to Chelsea.

Those results don’t fill us with much confidence, which is why we’re backing the hosts to win the match and both teams to get on the scoresheet. A 2-1 Brentford win in the correct score market is definitely an option to consider.

Brentford to win and both teams to score

Correct score – Brentford to win 2-1
