Blackburn Rovers and Wrexham will bring the curtain down on the FA Cup fourth round at Ewood Park on Monday evening.
Championship Blackburn are priced around 7/10 to progress to the fifth round of the FA Cup at the time of writing and that looks a dangerous price to back.
Sure, if they turn up and play to the best of their ability, they should progress. But there’s always an if in ties like this.
Wrexham have previous form having beaten Coventry 4-3 as a National League side last season before drawing 3-3 at home to Sheffield United.
The Dragons may be a League Two side on paper, but a title charge is looking increasingly likely and they have a squad capable of competing in League One.
Rovers would have been hopeful of a play-off push this campaign but one win in 10 means they are now closer to the bottom three.
No team in the league has conceded more goals and it’s become a rare occasion when they hold the opposition to one or fewer goals.
League One Cambridge led 1-0 inside 10 minutes and 2-1 inside half an hour in the previous round before Sammie Szmodics came to the rescue with a hat trick.
The diminutive Irishman has struck 19 times for Rovers this season and is starting to look like the sole reason they aren’t marooned in the drop zone.
As potent as they can be, we don’t think they can afford to give Wrexham a head start or allow as many clear-cut chances as they have in recent matches.
