Barcelona vs Mallorca tips and predictions: Goal-shy Pirates to lose to Catalans

Barcelona will have the opportunity to leapfrog Girona in the La Liga table on Friday night and close the gap to rivals Real Madrid to six points if they beat Mallorca.

The visitors have their war to wage at the opposite end of the table and Sunday’s shock win against Girona lifted them eight points clear of 18th-placed Cadiz.

Barcelona drew 0-0 with Athletic Bilbao last weekend and missed a golden opportunity to capitalise on the top two dropping points.

Not only did Xavi’s side drop points but Frenkie de Jong and Pedri suffered serious-looking injuries that could keep them out of the final run-in.

Copa del Rey finalists Mallorca are unbeaten in their last three matches and have scored in each of their last five in all competitions.

However, they haven’t scored more than a single goal very often this season, and they’ve claimed just eight points from 13 away matches.
