West Ham join race for Burnley winger Maxwel Cornet
West Ham are set to rival Everton in the race for Burnley winger and Ivory Coast international, Maxwel Cornet.
The Irons are said to have held talks with the Clarets over a potential loan move for the 25-year-old, according to Sky Sports.
Cornet was not involved in Vincent Kompany's squad for the opening Championship game of the season against Huddersfield Town.
The Belgian manager revealed that Cornet was not at the "right physical level" and had to sit out the 1-0 victory at the John Smith's Stadium.
Last month, Everton held talks with the Lancashire club about a potential deal for Cornet, who is understood to have a £17.5million release clause included in his contract.
Since arriving at Turf Moor, the winger has impressed after scoring nine goals in 28 appearances across all competitions.
The player arrived in the Premier League from French powerhouse Lyon where he made 252 outings and scored 51 goals across eight seasons in France.
At the international level, Cornet represented France as a youngster, but chose to make his senior debut for the Ivory Coast.
The winger has made 29 appearances for Les Elephants and scored six goals since 2017.
