West Ham continue their pursuit of Ajax star Mohammed Kudus
West Ham are reportedly making progress in their hunt to sign Ajax's Mohammed Kudus.
West Ham United are edging closer to finalising an agreement with Ajax to secure the services of winger Mohammed Kudus.
Having already encountered two rejections from Ajax, with the most recent bid amounting to £34million plus potential add-ons, West Ham's urgent requirement for strengthening their attacking prowess has prompted sustained negotiations.
Both manager David Moyes and technical director Tim Steidten are actively advocating for Kudus to become a part of the London Stadium lineup.
According to reports, a third proposal has been officially submitted to Ajax. It's worth noting that earlier this summer, Ajax and Brighton had agreed on a transfer fee for Kudus, initially valued at £35million with an additional £2.5million in potential add-ons. However, Kudus himself halted the progression of that transfer.
There is growing belief that Ajax are inclined to accept West Ham's current offer, especially after Ajax responded with a €50million counter-proposal to West Ham's previous bid.
One pivotal aspect influencing this potential agreement is Ajax's willingness to adapt the payment terms.
Initially, West Ham had proposed a five-year installment plan for payment to Ajax. However, the club have now put forward an offer that is significantly more favourable to the Eredivisie champions.
Additionally, the proposed deal includes a 10% sell-on clause. This means that if West Ham were to sell Kudus for €50million or more in the future, Ajax would receive compensation for relinquishing the short-term funds.
Although there are no anticipated issues with personal terms, West Ham will need to finalise salary and bonus structures with Kudus and his representatives.
