Werder Bremen boss Ole Werner describes shock win over Bayern Munich as 'the perfect day'
Werder Bremen head coach Ole Werner described his side's victory over Bayern Munich on Sunday as the 'perfect day'.
The 1-0 win courtesy of Mitchell Weiser's goal not only marked the Green-Whites' first win on the road this season, but also their first in Munich in 15 years. The three points were also vital in keeping them clear of the relegation zone.
Speaking after the match to the club's official website, head coach Ole Werner was effusive in the praise of his players.
"So much went right for us today. The boys did exceptionally well. They were able to constantly cause problems for Bayern and delivered an amazing defensive performance. We also did really well going forward," said Werner.
"I can't fault anyone today, they all did superbly. It was vital that we managed to pick up three points today, which is something we hadn't necessarily set out to do. It's been a long time since we've won and I'm thrilled that we came out on top, for both the entire team and the fans."
