Celtic v Bayern Munich (2000 GMT)

It’ll take a brave person to back Celtic to beat Bayern Munich in the Champions League on Wednesday, though there’s plenty of reason to believe they can score.

The Scots found the net against Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig earlier in the competition, beating the latter 3-1 on a memorable night at Celtic Park.

They’re on a good run on goalscoring form at home, finding the net in nine consecutive Champions League ties despite facing the likes of Lazio, Atletico Madrid and Feyenoord.

Bayern won nine matches either side of a surprise 3-0 defeat to Feyenoord, with Harry Kane scoring six goals in four matches.

Feyenoord v AC Milan (2000 GMT)

Feyenoord have recorded back-to-back home clean sheets, beating Bayern Munich and Sparta Rotterdam 3-0.

Before that, 10 of 11 visitors to De Kuip found the net, and they haven’t made a habit of shutting teams out in Europe, conceding two or more in six of eight this campaign.

In addition to a wild 3-3 draw with Man City, a 3-1 defeat to Salzburg and a 4-2 win against Sparta Prague, the Dutch side were hit for six at Lille last time out.

Both teams have scored in nine of AC Milan’s previous 11 UCL matches, and they’ve yet to keep a clean sheet on the road, most recently losing 2-1 to Dinamo Zagreb.

    Monaco v Benfica (2000 GMT)

Benfica produces one extreme or the other in Europe. They followed a 4-0 win against Atletico Madrid with a 3-1 defeat to Feyenoord. Since then, they looked well organised in a 1-0 defeat to Bayern Munich before collapsing to lose 5-4 to Barcelona.

Five of Monaco’s previous seven home games finished 3-2 or 4-2, with the hosts on the wrong side of two of those results.

It’s worth noting that one of the sides to get the better of them at Stade Louis recently was Benfica, who scored two late goals to turn the game on its head and win 3-2.

Sunderland v Luton Town (1945 GMT)

Sunderland have dropped off the pace at the top of the Championship recently, and another setback against strugglers Luton Town on Wednesday could be disastrous.

The Black Cats have won four of nine since Christmas, a run coinciding with Sheffield United finding ways to win and Leeds collecting 24 points.

It’s notable how many goals they conceded compared to their promotion rivals, and as bad as Luton are on the road, they average a goal and a game and scored five times in their previous four outings.

Sheffield United v Middlesbrough (2000 GMT)

Sheffield United turned in their worst performance of the season on Saturday. The Blades could have trailed Portsmouth 3-0 but found a way to win the game.

That leads us to believe we’ll see one of their more spirited efforts on Wednesday, but it won’t be easy, as Middlesbrough will match them stride for stride.

They went toe-to-toe with Leeds in a 3-1 defeat earlier this season and played an open match, so the trend of both teams scoring in Boro away games could continue.
