VfL Wolfsburg strengthen midfield with Salih Ozcan loan from Dortmund
VfL Wolfsburg have made a strategic move to strengthen their midfield by securing the loan of Turkish international Salih Ozcan from Borussia Dortmund.
The 26-year-old midfielder, known for his defensive prowess and experience on both the European and international stages, brings significant value to Wolfsburg's squad.
Head coach Ralph Hasenhuttl expressed his satisfaction with the signing, stating, "We're very pleased that Salih Ozcan is joining VfL Wolfsburg.
"His mindset and style of play make him the perfect addition to our midfield. We believe that the qualities he has will do us a lot of good."
Ozcan, who rose through the ranks at 1. FC Koln, has established himself as a reliable player at the professional level. After a successful loan spell at Holstein Kiel and an impressive 2021/22 season with Koln, Ozcan transferred to Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2022.
During his time with Dortmund, he made 70 appearances, including 16 in the UEFA Champions League, showcasing his ability to perform at the highest level.
Now joining Wolfsburg, Ozcan is eager to contribute. "After some very good negotiations, I'm now delighted to be here in Wolfsburg," he said.
"The club and the team definitely have what it takes to play in Europe. I will try to play my part, give it my all, and show my qualities on the pitch."
With 22 international caps for Turkey, including appearances at the 2024 European Championship, Ozcan's experience and determination will be crucial as Wolfsburg aim for a successful season ahead.
