VfB Stuttgart lose top scorer Serhou Guirassy with a tendon injury
Relegation-battling VfB Stuttgart have suffered a huge blow as their leading scorer, Serhou Guirassy, has been ruled out for several weeks with a torn tendon.
The 26-year-old striker, who has scored eight goals in 15 appearances across all competitions, was substituted off during the first-half of Sunday's 2-0 loss to SV Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga clash.
Stuttgart brought in Guirassy as a transfer deadline day replacement for the departed Sasa Kalajdzic, but with no other player on the roster coming close to his production, the club faces a tough challenge in their fight against relegation.
Squad captain Wataru Endo and Chris Führich have three league goals each, while injured players Tiago Tomas and "Silas" and the departed Naouirou Ahamada have two each.
In other Stuttgart news, German football magazine Kicker reports that Tiago Tomas is unlikely to stay with the club beyond the end of the season.
The Portuguese loanee from Sporting CP has not developed as expected, and both he and the club are reportedly dissatisfied with his progress.
A return to Portugal seems to be the most likely outcome.
