Three Championship players that could join Premier League clubs this summer

Blackburn Rover's Sammie Szmodics

The Championship season is nearing an end with plenty still to play for at both ends of the table.

Sammie Szmodics, Morgan Whittaker and Leif Davis are just some of the standout performers this season.

They have also attracted interest from various Premier League clubs and in some cases interest from abroad.

Here Planet Sport takes a look at the three players and the clubs interested in them whilst also predicting where they could end up next season.

Sammie Szmodics (Blackburn Rovers)

Szmodics is the league’s top goal scorer with 21 goals and three assists for Blackburn Rovers so far this campaign.

In the FA Cup, he has scored six times in the three games that saw Rovers reach the fifth round of the competition.

The 28-year-old joined from Peterborough back in 2022 and his recent form has earned him a maiden call-up for the Republic of Ireland.

Premier League clubs Fulham and Brentford are interested as Blackburn may well hold out for a huge fee if they stay in the Championship.

Morgan Whittaker (Plymouth Argyle)

Whittaker has contributed 18 goals and seven assists for Plymouth which prompted plenty of interest from clubs in England and abroad in January.

Despite the interest, Whittaker decided to stay and help The Pilgrims in their survival fight as they are currently two points ahead of Huddersfield Town in the relegation zone.

Rumours suggested Lazio made a bid, but it was rejected in the last transfer window but now West Ham, Brentford and Fulham are planning a move for the forward in the summer.

Even if Plymouth stay up this season, it will be hard for them to hold onto their star man.

Leif Davis (Ipswich Town)

Ipswich Town have had a remarkable season so far, currently third and fighting for promotion against the likes of Leeds United, Leicester City and Southampton.

Davis has arguably been the best left-back in the Championship this season and he has 14 assists with eight games left to play for The Tractor Boys.

With promotion within reach for Ipswich, Davis could easily stay at the club if they reach the Premier League.

However, if they don’t get promoted the likes of Newcastle United, West Ham and Nottingham Forest could make a move for the full-back.
