Thomas Tuchel urges Bayern Munich urgency in Champions League clash against Lazio

Bayern Munich coach Thomas Tuchel has emphasized the need for urgency as they face a 1-0 deficit against Lazio in their Champions League last-16 clash on Tuesday.

The pressure is mounting on Bayern, especially after the announcement that Tuchel would leave the club at the end of the season, adding an extra layer of intensity to their campaign.

Despite Bayern's dominance in the Bundesliga, winning the last 11 titles, they find themselves trailing 10 points behind Bayer Leverkusen. With only 10 games left, their Bundesliga hopes are fading, making the Champions League their last chance to salvage a season without silverware — a rarity for the German powerhouse since 2012.

"The time is on Lazio's side," Tuchel declared, emphasizing the limited time-frame for a comeback. "We can't be patient if it's just about keeping ball possession. We have just 90 minutes. We need to play with a cool head but we need to play to score goals."

In a potential boost for Bayern, Leroy Sane, who missed the recent draw against Freiburg due to a patellar tendon problem, is expected to make a return. Tuchel expressed optimism about Sane's availability, stating, "As things stand, he'll be in the squad and can play."

Additionally, Alphonso Davies, recovering from an internal ligament strain, may make his first start since returning. Tuchel noted, "Alphonso is definitely an option. He could probably play 90 minutes."

With the clock ticking and the odds against them, Bayern Munich face a do-or-die situation against Lazio, hoping to ignite a comeback and keep their Champions League dreams alive.
