Third time lucky for Manchester United as triple update reveals Mason Mount deal is close
Mason Mount appears to be edging closer to his proposed move to Manchester United following the latest update on his Chelsea future.
Chelsea star Mason Mount looks to be edging closer to his proposed move to Manchester United following the latest update on his Stamford Bridge future.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag wants to bring in a new goalkeeper, centre-back, central midfielder and striker this summer, with Mount very much his top target to add to United's engine room this summer.
The 24-year-old, who has twice been named as the club's Player of the Year, averages better than a goal contribution once every three games for the Blues.
However, the England international has struggled to hold down a regular place in the side and also splits opinion among Stamford Bridge faithful.
Mount currently has just a year remaining on his contract and has already been the subject of two offers from United, which were both rejected.
The latest bid was believed to be worth £45m plus a further £5m in add-ons, as per
The Athletic.
But a fresh update from transfer insider Fabrizio Romano has delivered some very encouraging news for the Red Devils.
Romano has tweeted that personal terms between United and Mount are "100 percent sealed and agreed".
Secondly, he states that Mount has zero intention of signing a new deal at Chelsea despite the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as the club's new boss. The third piece of positive news comes in the form of Chelsea relaxing their demands.
The Blues were initially hoping to generate up to £75m for Mount, though will now come to the table if a package worth £60m-£65m is bid.
The west London outfit cannot afford to be a little more flexible as they seemingly close in on the signing of Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.
To that end, United are pushing hard to get a deal over the line for Mount so they can then switch their focus to other targets.
