Thomas Tuchel complained about the referee and Carlo Ancelotti 'laughing' together, Thierry Henry shuts down Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modric does Luka Modric things to break Chelsea hearts.

Chelsea's reign as European champions is over following an elimination to Real Madrid in the quarter-finals.

The Blues were on the verge of reaching the last four with a lead of 3-0 with 10 minutes to go in the tie.

However, a piece of magic by Luka Modric forced the game into extra time after the ex-Tottenham midfielder set up Rodrygo with an outrageous outside-of-the-boot assist.

Karim Benzema scored a crucial second in the 96th minute to send Madrid into the semi-finals with a 5-4 aggregate victory.

It wouldn't be football if a game didn't include VAR controversy.

Thomas Tuchel couldn't hide his frustration after Marcus Alonso's goal was disallowed by VAR for handball.

The German claimed he saw the referee and Real Madrid manager 'laughing and smiling' loud after the final whistle.

Tuchel said: "I was disappointed that the referee had a good time with my colleague Carlo Ancelotti. "Maybe it is too much to ask for in matches like this against this opponent."

Villarreal delivered a huge upset by knocking out Bayern Munich in last night's other European quarter-final.

It has been reported that Manchester United are on the verge of appointing Erik ten Hag to become their next manager.

If he does become the new head coach at Old Trafford, then the two Manchester teams will have something in common.
