Serie A news: Cristiano Ronaldo will not reunite with Jose Mourinho at Roma
AS Roma director Tiago Pinto has ruled out a move for Manchester United's wantaway striker Cristiano Ronaldo.
Ronaldo's recent controversial interview with TalkTV, in which he was critical of Manchester United and its ownership, has put his future in doubt.
The Portugal international, who is in Qatar for the FIFA World Cup, has been the subject of much speculation following his frank statements.
Rumours have done the rounds linking the 37-year-old with a move to the Giallorossi, where he could link up with Portuguese compatriots Jose Mourinho and Pinto.
However, the Roma director has made it clear that Ronaldo has never been discussed as a target.
Pinto also used the opportunity to express his frustrations over the constant transfer speculation he's had to deal with in Italy.
"One of the things that irritates me about Italy is that they are constantly talking about the transfer market," said Pinto, speaking at the 'Thinking Football Summit'.
"The truth is that Cristiano Ronaldo was never a possibility. These rumours had no foundation.
"But in Italy they talk every day about three different players linked with your club.
"I understand it was natural to link us because Mourinho and I are both Portuguese, and so is Cristiano.
"But as I said, there was never any substance in it."
