Ryan Gravenberch thriving with increased game time at Liverpool
Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch admits increased game time is making him a happier player and that is reflected in his performances.
The 21-year-old's single season at Bayern Munich saw him make just three Bundesliga starts for the champions and it was that lack of opportunity which helped persuade him – and the club – to move on in the summer.
He has yet to make a Premier League start for Jurgen Klopp's side after joining on deadline day but of his six appearances three have been starts – two in the Europa League and one in the Carabao Cup – and his goalscoring display in the 2-0 win over Union Saint-Gilloise has edged him closer to contention for the league team.
"I didn't play a lot last season and when I came here I am getting minutes and that is why I am enjoying playing on the pitch," said the Dutchman.
On scoring his first goal for the club, Gravenberch added: "It was such a special feeling for me. I didn't score a lot so when I made my first goal for Liverpool it means a lot to me."
The game was more of a grind than Liverpool would have expected and victory was only secured by Diogo Jota in added time but as favourites for the competition Gravenberch acknowledges every team will raise their game against them.
"Liverpool is a big club and the smaller teams want to win against us. We prepare for everything," he said.
