Report: Sergi Roberto gives Barcelona deadline amid Serie A interest

Barcelona captain Sergi Roberto has set a deadline of July 10, coinciding with the team's return to training, for the Catalans to finalise his future.

Despite being close to receiving a contract renewal under former coach Xavi Hernandez, Roberto now faces an uncertain future at the Spanish giants.

Financial Fair Play issues and his reduced status have made the club more open to his departure as a free agent.

Roberto has been without a club since June 30, awaiting a renewal offer contingent on Barcelona's Financial Fair Play compliance. If the club fails to meet these standards, they may have to consider letting Roberto go.

The 32-year-old is unwilling to leave his future uncertain and dependent on external factors, seeking more assurance and clarity to avoid jeopardising his chances of joining another team.

Several clubs, including Roma, Juventus, and Inter Milan, have expressed interest in signing Roberto as a free agent this summer.

Premier League and La Liga teams have also shown interest in the versatile player.

While there is a possibility of extending the deadline or accepting an alternative offer after July 10, Roberto is keen on securing his future as the start of the next season approaches.
