Report: Barcelona star Ousmane Dembele reaches agreement with PSG
Barcelona's Ousmane Dembele appears to be satisfied with Paris Saint-Germain's proposed contract.
Ousmane Dembele has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, indicating his desire to leave Barcelona.
PSG recently approached the 26-year-old, who has one year left on his contract at Camp Nou. Despite Barcelona's attempts to keep Dembele with a new deal, progress has been slow.
Dembele seeks a substantial pay increase after previously accepting reduced wages in a short-term deal with Barcelona last summer.
With negotiations stalling, PSG seized the opportunity to bring Dembele back to Ligue 1, where he excelled with Rennes before joining Borussia Dortmund in 2016.
Dembele's contract includes a €50million release clause until the end of July, doubling to €100million afterward. PSG can now trigger the clause and secure his signing after reaching personal terms.
The agreement is for a five-year deal, and Barcelona have been informed of the situation. The clubs' discussions in the coming hours will determine whether PSG pays the release clause or reaches an agreement with Barcelona.
Barcelona are eager to retain Dembele, but they are cautious not to lose him for free next summer, reluctantly considering his departure.
Originally planning to part ways with two of their four senior wingers this summer, Dembele, Raphinha, Ansu Fati, and Ferran Torres were all under consideration.
Barcelona intended to offload Fati and Torres, but both players are reluctant to leave.
PSG's interest in Dembele comes amid the uncertainty of Kylian Mbappe's future, but the club state that their pursuit of Dembele is independent of the Mbappe situation.
