Real Madrid's rising star Mario Martin loaned to Real Valladolid
Real Madrid's promising young talent Mario Martin will take his next steps away from Valdebebas as he joins Real Valladolid on loan for the upcoming season.
The 20-year-old midfielder, who has impressed during pre-season with Carlo Ancelotti's first team, will gain valuable experience in La Liga while on loan, without any purchase option included.
Since his promotion to the Castilla team in the 2021-22 season, Martin has steadily developed under Raul's guidance. He is highly regarded within La Fabrica and made his first-team debut under Ancelotti in January 2023.
This debut came in a Copa del Rey match against Atletico Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu, a promising start for the young talent.
This past season, Martin featured in three matches for the first team, two in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey, while making a significant impact at Castilla, where he started in 25 of the 27 games he played.
Real Madrid are keen to retain Martin, recognising his potential for the first team, and have no intention of relinquishing any rights to him. This approach is somewhat atypical for the club.
Despite interest from several clubs including Getafe and Rayo Vallecano, Martin's impressive performances during pre-season in the United States ultimately led to his loan move to Valladolid.
The club, having identified a need for a solid defensive midfielder alongside Kike Perez and Selim Amallah, will benefit from Martin's disciplined and dynamic presence in the midfield.
Mario Martin will soon join coach Paulo Pezzolano's squad and may even make his official debut against Real Madrid this Sunday at the Santiago Bernabeu.
