Real Madrid unveil Arda Guler after he chose Los Blancos over Barcelona
Real Madrid introduced Arda Guler on Friday, showcasing their latest prodigious teenage talent.
Real Madrid proudly presented Arda Guler on Friday, marking the arrival of their latest gifted teenager at the La Liga club.
The 18-year-old expressed his sheer delight at joining the biggest club in the world.
Guler's move to the Spanish capital was confirmed on Thursday, with the transfer fee disclosed as €20 million upfront for Fenerbahce, along with a potential additional €10 million in bonuses and a 20% share of any future sales. Waste no time, Guler swiftly travelled to Madrid to finalize the necessary paperwork.
The talented midfielder categorically ruled out the possibility of a loan move to media, asserting, "No, I can rule out that possibility. I want to remain at the club." Embracing the challenge, he added, "They have assured me that I will play, and I feel prepared. I am here to work hard and give my all."
Guler had also become the subject of an intense pursuit by Barcelona, but Real Madrid ultimately emerged victorious in the race. Barcelona President Joan Laporta openly admitted their pursuit of Guler, prompting questions.
Guler, however, preferred not to delve into specifics, reiterating his preference for Los Blancos over all other options. "I must emphasize that numerous clubs presented their offers. Yet, as soon as Real Madrid entered the picture, all others lost their significance."
Guler's signing represents a significant triumph for Real Madrid, not only in acquiring one of the most talented teenagers worldwide but also in outmanoeuvring Barcelona for his signature.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez, undoubtedly views this as a testament to their dominance in global football, can now celebrate another successful acquisition after Jude Bellingham.
It would appear that, Real Madrid continue to assert themselves as the destination of choice for the finest young players, even when presented with a multitude of options.
