Real Madrid pursue defensive dynamo Alphonso Davies amidst contract conundrum

Alphonso Davies: ‘I want people to know about importance of helping refugees’

In their quest to bolster the left-back position, Real Madrid have set their sights on Bayern Munich's defensive sensation, Alphonso Davies.

Despite recognizing Davies as the ideal signing, Los Blancos find themself facing a financial hurdle, urging the Canadian star to consider a pay cut to don the iconic white jersey.

Drawing parallels to Jude Bellingham's principled decision to reject higher wages elsewhere, MARCA reports that Davies may need to tread a similar path to join forces with the Englishman. Months of negotiations between Davies and Bayern have yet to yield a conclusive agreement.

Bayern, seemingly reluctant to meet Davies' salary demands, currently ranging from €10-13 million per annum, has recently raised their offer to a noteworthy €10 million. However, this proposed figure still falls short of what Davies could potentially earn at Real Madrid. The report suggests that Real Madrid place high importance on maintaining squad harmony through a balanced salary structure, avoiding wage imbalances that could disrupt team cohesion and save the club valuable resources.

While Bayern explore alternative options, including Miguel Gutierrez, Fran Garcia, Ferland Mendy, and academy prospect Rafael Obrador, concerns linger over Davies' potential departure.

Real Madrid's existing salary structure implies that top earners typically receive between €10-12 million annually. Speculation arises that, akin to Bellingham, Davies might slot into the tier below, with a ballpark figure of €6-8 million per year. This prospect signals a substantial reduction in earnings for Davies, prompting him to carefully assess his priorities as negotiations continue.

As Real Madrid navigate the intricate dynamics of securing Davies' services, the football world eagerly awaits the resolution of this high-stakes contract conundrum.
