Real Madrid news: Los Blancos set to battle Arsenal for La Liga star Samuel Chukwueze
Real Madrid are set to go head to head against Arsenal to sign Villareal star Samuel Chukwueze after his breakout season.
Villarreal winger Samuel Chukwueze has enjoyed an outstanding campaign in Spain this season, contributing to 24 goals so far.
The Nigeria international has been a first-team regular under manager Quique Setien and has repaid him tenfold for the faith he showed in the young winger.
The 24-year-old is also a regular fixture for his national team, scoring four goals in 24 appearances.
Chukuweze's style compliments Villarreal talisman Gerard Moreno perfectly as the pair have been the standout players for the Spanish side.
Madrid are reportedly in the market for a winger following the disappointing spell of £100million man, Eden Hazard.
Hazard's time at the club has been massively hindered due to the injuries he has sustained since joining in 2019.
Furthermore, Marco Asensio is also set to leave the club this summer as he has slwoly fallen down the pecking order thanks to the form of Rodrygo and Vinicius Jnr.
Chukuweze is often deployed down the right flank and would not only add depth but add some competition for Rodrygo.
This would be beneficial for Carlo Ancelotti's side as he would be able to rotate the pair and have the same level of quality within his squad.
However, the Spanish club aren't the only ones who are vying for the transfer of the 24-year-old.
Arsenal are yet another team who believe Chukuweze could be an ideal candidate to join their ranks.
Leandro Trossard was brought to the club in the January transfer window for a minimal fee of £25million.
However, the Gunners would benefit from having an additional winger within their squad to provide cover for star players, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli.
If Chukuweze were to join Arsenal this summer, he would likely be joining a side who are challenging for the title next season.
Arsenal are not the only English club looking to sign the winger as Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa are also reportedly interested.
The 24-year-old is currently valued around £17.8million which is a minimal fee for a player with as much quality as he possesses.
