Paris Saint-Germain loan Xavi Simons to RB Leipzig for another season
RB Leipzig have confirmed that Dutch attacking midfielder Xavi Simons will spend another season at the Bundesliga club on loan from Paris Saint-Germain.
The 21-year-old had a scintillating first season at the Red Bull outfit with 10 goals in 43 games across all competitions as well as 15 assists.
Born in Amsterdam on 21 April 2003, Xavi Simons signed his first professional contract when he joined PSG from FC Barcelona in summer 2019. In February 2021, he made his first-team debut with PSG in a Coupe de France match with SM Caen.
In July 2022, after 11 appearances and one assist in all competitions for the Rouge et Bleu, he joined PSV Eindhoven. He enjoyed an exceptional season with the Dutch club, tallying 22 goals and 12 assists in 48 matches. He was the Eredivisie's joint-top-scorer with 19 goals and won both the Dutch Super Cup and the Dutch Cup.
Xavi shone during the European Championship in Germany. He was a regular feature of the Dutch side, registering one goal and three assists to finish as the tournament's third-best goal contributor and second-best assist provider.
There will be a change of shirt number for Xavi in the new season. He will wear the number 10 and complete his medical on Monday.
