Boxing Day over 2.5 goals acca
Coventry City vs Plymouth Argyle – 1/2
Middlesbrough vs Sheffield Wednesday – 4/5
Blackburn Rovers vs Sunderland – 6/5
Stoke City vs Leeds United – 4/5
Coventry City vs Plymouth Argyle (1500 GMT)
Worst defence, fewest wins and bottom of the table. Things are really not looking up for Wayne Rooney and his Plymouth side.
The one positive for the former England striker is that his side have shown positives when it comes to scoring goals.
Plymouth bagged three against Middlesbrough last week and boast a decent season goal tally of 22 – just three short of fifth-placed Blackburn.
Coventry have found the back of the net in three of their last four games, giving us enough confidence to add this game to our acca.
Watford vs Portsmouth (1500 GMT)
Following Portsmouth must be a wild ride of emotions. One week they beat Bristol City 3-0, another week they lose 4-0 at Derby and the following week they beat Coventry 4-1. The term ‘middle ground’ clearly has no meaning on the south coast.
Watford have been able to score in six of their last seven Championship games. What’s more, only five teams in the league have scored more goal than the Hornets.
Middlesbrough vs Sheffield Wednesday (1500 GMT)
If you want entertainment, Middlesbrough is a good place to visit at this time of the year.
The Boro are the second top goal scorers in the Championship this season, rattling the net 38 times across their 22 games.
Sheffield Wednesday are no mugs, scoring five times across their last two outings. They could very well give the hosts a run for their money.
Blackburn Rovers vs Sunderland (1500 GMT)
Head-to-head meetings between Blackburn and Sunderland rarely disappoint. Since 2022 these two clubs have met on four occasions, producing a total of 15 goals.
Five of those were scored by Blackburn when they picked up an emphatic 5-1 win at the Stadium of Light back in April.
All stats point to another goal-heavy encounter on Boxing Day.
Stoke City vs Leeds United (2000 GMT)
The big Boxing Day evening offering in the Championship comes at the Bet365 Stadium as Stoke City entertain Leeds United.
Stoke have been getting slapped around in recent weeks, losing four of their last five encounters.
Leeds, who scored four past Oxford and three past Middlesbrough recently, are in a punishing mood and we’re backing another big win for the Whites.
