Micky van de Ven open to Wolfsburg exit as Liverpool rumours swirl

Micky van de Ven

Defender Micky van de Ven has openly expressed his desire to part ways with Wolfsburg, stating that he would seize the opportunity if the right club and deal presents itself.

Dutch defender Micky van de Ven has expressed his desire to leave Wolfsburg if the right opportunity presents itself.
Speaking in an interview with ESPN, the centre-back admitted, "Of course I feel very much at home in Wolfsburg. So I don't mind playing one more year here. But if I have the chance to leave, I would like to do that."
Van de Ven has been linked heavily with Liverpool, who recently appointed Joerg Schmadtke, the man responsible for bringing him to Wolfsburg from Volendam, as their new sporting director. However, it remains uncertain if Liverpool has made any formal approach for the talented player.
"I read everything, of course," said Van de Ven in response to the Liverpool rumours. "I have good contact with my agent, so I know about it. I'll see what happens this summer."
Before contemplating his future, Van de Ven aims to secure the European Championship title with the U21 national team. He added, "Hopefully, yes. Hopefully. That would be nice."
Reports from Germany suggest Liverpool are actively seeking a left-sided central defender this summer, with Van de Ven fitting the desired profile. However, the Reds have not officially expressed any interest in the 22-year-old at present, according to the ECHO.
