Man Utd v Ipswich: Predictions, tips and free bet builder as Tractor Boys cause problems

Liam Delap scores for Ipswich Town

Manchester United are looking to effectively confirm their safety when they face fellow relegation battlers Ipswich Town at Old Trafford on Wednesday night.

Ruben Amorim’s tenure is off to a shocking start and shows no immediate signs of improving as he builds for the future.

Ipswich Town are also struggling recently and could be in danger of being cut adrift in the coming weeks if they can’t produce a big win or two.

We’ve picked out our favourite bets for Wednesday’s Premier League bet builder, which is priced at 5/1 with Paddy Power.

Good luck and please gamble responsibly.

Man Utd v Ipswich Town betting preview

No win in seven has allowed Wolves to pull five points clear of Ipswich in the battle to avoid relegation, so a win at Old Trafford is a requirement when you consider their fixture list.

A positive result is possible because they’ve claimed points at Brighton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa, plus won away to Tottenham and Wolves.

United have relied on individual talent and moments to beat Southampton and Fulham in recent weeks, and are otherwise winless in their last 10 matches.

Notably, none of their defeats at home have come against relegation-threatened sides, where they’ve beaten Leicester, Everton and the Saints.

On the other hand, the Red Devils drew 1-1 with Kieran McKenna's earlier this season and the only way they could sink any lower is to lose to a promoted side.

A result for Ipswich could mean United end the week with just one team between them and the relegation zone. Let’s be honest, unless you support Man Utd, that’s incredibly funny.

Both sides have to be fired up for this and the midfield battle is choc full of players who enjoy a tackle, so the cards market feels like a good place to start.

The line is set at a measly 3.5 cards, which is lower than the average shown in a Premier League game this season. Ipswich alone have received 62 yellows and three reds, meaning an average of 2.5 cards per match.

United aren’t far behind with 2.30 per game so on averages alone you’d expect this line to be 4.5.

Top scorer Liam Delap is exactly the sort of player you’d expect to exploit Man Utd’s defensive inefficiencies. He’s averaging 2.20 shots per game, hitting the target once.

Last but not least, we’ll show faith in Ipswich to score. Arsenal, Brentford and Brighton are the only teams to shut them out on their travels, while Man Utd have kept just one clean sheet in 10 matches across all competitions.
