Man Utd v Fulham: FA Cup predictions, tips and best bets as Red Devils look to salvage season

The alarm bells at ringing at Old Trafford… and it’s not only in the canteen. Jim Ratcliffe might be forcing his staff to reuse teabags and limit the use of condiments, but let’s face it, there are far bigger issues at play than ketchup usage.

Man United are at a serious risk of missing out on European football next season, with the Red Devils well off the pace in the Premier League.

Their only two options of securing continental football rest on winning either the Europa League or the FA Cup – two things that are far easier said than done.

While United are the defending champions, their current form doesn’t exactly fill us with confidence when looking at their chances of retaining the trophy.

Fulham will be licking their lips and sharpening their cutlery as they look to pick up just their second Old Trafford win in 23 years.

Why on earth would anyone back Man United at the moment? The Red Devils hardly got through Ipswich on Wednesday and have only won two of their last five outings.

Ruben Amorim’s side are low on confidence, high on injuries and are struggling beyond belief.

Fulham, meanwhile, have won four of their last five matches and sit five points short of the top four in the Premier League.

The Cottagers have never won a major domestic cup, but we are backing them to have a good shot at changing that this year – starting with a win over United.

While we are backing Fulham to progress, both teams to score is the way to go in this one.

United are struggling but they’ve also scored in eight of their last 10 matches. The Red Devils bagged five goals across their last two matches and we’re backing that goalscoring trend to continue.

Three of Man United’s last four matches have seen a one goal winning margin – not always in their favour.

This bet has also landed in five of Fulham’s previous six matches. Interestingly, four of those matches were won by the same 2-1 scoreline.

 

Harry Maguire +1 shot on target

Harry Maguire is proving to be more of an attacking threat for United than a lot of the forwards currently in the team.

The England man has scored two goals in his last four matches and always poses a threat from set pieces. With that in mind, we’re backing Maguire to threaten the Fulham defence.
