Luton Town lining up summer moves for Middlesbrough duo
Middlesbrough duo Paddy McNair and Chuba Akpom are on the radar of Premier League new boys Luton Town, according to reports.
The 28-year-old featured 34 times for Boro last season as they secured a Championship play-off place. He can play in central midfield or central defence, with Middlesbrough usually utilising him in their backline.
With Boro having fallen to Coventry City in the semi-finals of the play-offs, it is believed that a number of players will be leaving the Riverside, with the hope of freeing money to enable recruitment that can help with another promotion push.
McNair has some Premier League experience, having played on 33 occasions for Sunderland and Manchester United in the top flight.
He joined Middlesbrough from Sunderland five years ago, signing a contract extension in 2020 which is due to expire at the end of next season.
McNair has played 49 times for Northern Ireland and it is reported that Boro would be interested in doing a deal with the newly-promoted Premier League side should the terms be right.
Despite being a regular in the Boro line-up last season, they do have a number of options at centre-back including Darragh Lenihan, Dael Fry and Matthew Clarke.
McNair may not be the only player leaving Boro for Luton, with reports also suggesting that the Hatters are interested in Championship top scorer Chuba Akpom too. Like McNair, Akpom only has 12 months remaining on his contract at the Riverside.
