Liverpool reportedly aiming to bring in James Ward-Prowse

James Ward-Prowse 9 May 2023

Liverpool appear interested in Southampton's James Ward-Prowse.

Liverpool are seeking alternative options in their midfield rebuild after missing out on Mason Mount, who looks set to join Manchester United.
Manager Jurgen Klopp has turned his attention to James Ward-Prowse as a potential target for the team.
Mount had been linked with a move to Liverpool as his future at Chelsea became uncertain. However, Klopp has had to shift his focus to other options, with Ward-Prowse now at the top of his wishlist.
According to the Daily Mail, Ward-Prowse is likely to leave Southampton following their relegation from the Premier League.
The Saints have set a price tag of £50 million for their captain, but Liverpool are willing to be patient and wait for a potential reduction in the asking price.
There is a belief that Southampton may lower their demands as the transfer window progresses, considering the need to raise funds for their own squad rebuilding in order to challenge for promotion.
Liverpool are reportedly prepared to spend around £25 million on Ward-Prowse.
The midfielder is also seeking a fresh challenge as he aims to regain his place in the England national team.
Ward-Prowse's contract does not contain a relegation clause, and he still has three years remaining on his current deal.
Southampton rejected a £25 million bid from Aston Villa for their captain last summer, indicating their confidence in securing a significant transfer fee.
