Liverpool face the prospect of being without Trent Alexander-Arnold for their huge Man City game and Champions League quarter-finals through injury.

Liverpool have been dealt what could be a huge blow to their season with Jurgen Klopp revealing Trent Alexander-Arnold has suffered a hamstring injury.

Alexander-Arnold will miss Liverpool's FA Cup quarter-final against Nottingham Forest on Sunday and has also been withdrawn from the England squad for the upcoming friendlies.

Klopp did not give a timeframe for the injury but just confirmed Alexander-Arnold would be out for weeks, saying they would be monitoring his progress.

"Trent is out with a hamstring so he won't be involved with England either," said Klopp. "We'll have to see."

Klopp will be hoping the injury can heal quickly as Liverpool are just entering crunch time in what is a promising season, having just dragged themselves back into the title race with a 2-0 win at Arsenal putting them just a point behind Man City.

Alexander-Arnold in race to face Man City

The international break offers Alexander-Arnold some time to get back to fitness, but the big games are coming up quickly as the Reds return to action against Watford on April 2.
All eyes though are on their showdown with Man City at the Etihad on April 10, which also comes in the middle of the Champions League quarter-finals scheduled to be played on April 5/6 and 12/13.
It's the worst possible time to lose arguably Liverpool's most influential player on the pitch - with Alexander-Arnold often setting the tempo for the team and already having 11 Premier League assists this season.
"To replace Trent is difficult, but possible," added Klopp. "We have Milly, Joe, (James Milner & Joe Gomez) theoretically we can change system as well. In the past, when Milly had to step in he did incredibly well.
"The way Trent plays, I don't know another player in the world who plays like him."
