Leon Goretzka appears to reject Manchester United and Liverpool interest
Leon Goretzka seems eager to stay at Bayern Munich despite interest from Manchester United and Liverpool.
Bayern Munich midfielder Leon Goretzka has reportedly informed the club that he will stay, amidst growing speculation of a departure.
Despite being a key figure in Bayern's midfield, Goretzka has struggled to secure regular starting opportunities, starting no more than 23 Bundesliga games per season since his move from Schalke in 2018.
Towards the end of the previous campaign, he was sparingly used by manager Thomas Tuchel. Bayern had a lacklustre 2022/23 season but clinched their 11th consecutive title on the final day due to a collapse by rivals Borussia Dortmund.
The club have been actively seeking high-profile signings this transfer window, including the expected confirmation of Kim Min-jae's €50million move from Napoli and ongoing discussions with Tottenham regarding Harry Kane.
Goretzka had been identified as a potential departure to make room for new stars, and Bayern had informed him that he could be sold.
However, Goretzka has expressed his desire to remain at the Allianz Arena, leading to a lack of forthcoming offers.
Despite reported interest from Liverpool and Manchester United, both clubs have decided not to pursue Goretzka due to his commitment to Bayern.
Recent reports linking West Ham to the midfielder have also surfaced in Germany, but like Liverpool and Manchester United, they are unlikely to make an offer while Goretzka remains determined to stay.
If Goretzka has a change of heart, several Premier League teams could express their interest, but it is expected that he will not leave Bayern in this transfer window.
