Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel set to join Aaron Ramsey at OGC Nice
Kasper Schmeichel’s Leicester City exit is edging closer, with the Dane set to undergo a medical with Ligue 1 club Nice.
The 35-year-old is expected to complete his move after Nice and Leicester reached an agreement.
Manager Brendan Rodgers admitted last weekend that the veteran shot stopper would be allowed to depart if he found a new club.
Nice, who are owned by one of Britain's wealthiest men Jim Ratcliffe, have already signed Aaron Ramsey on a free transfer as they continue to strengthen ahead of the new season.
Should Schmeichel complete his move to Ligue 1, he will be linking up with his international teammate Kasper Dolberg who has scored 24 goals in 85 appearances for Nice.
The Danish goalkeeper will also face stern competition after the club secured a loan deal for Paris Saint-Germain's Marcin Bulka.
Schmeichel has spent 11 years at the King Power stadium and helped the team go from the lows of Championship football to the highs of Premier League supremacy.
The former Manchester City and Leeds United keeper won four titles with the Foxes, including the 2015/16 Premier League title - an achievement regarded by many as one of the greatest underdog stories in the history of sport.
Schmeichel made 479 appearances for Leicester and claimed the FA Cup, Community Shield and Championship crowns.
The Dane was also named the club's player of the season in 2012 and 2017.
