Leeds United set to sell Wilfried Gnonto to Premier League Everton for €22 million
Wilfried Gnonto is closing on a €22 million transfer from Leeds United to Premier League Everton, according to reports.
The latest reports suggest that Wilfried Gnonto is close to completing a transfer for Everton for a fee of around €22 million.
Rumours surfaced earlier in the summer that the Italian was a target for Everton and Aston Villa among other top-tier clubs around Europe.
Michele Criscitiello, CEO of Sport Italia, took to Twitter to share to suggest that an 'agreement' is in place for 'close to €22 million'.
Gnonto joined Leeds United for a fee believed to be around £5 million just 12 months ago so this move would see the Whites make a healthy profit.
The validity of the report remains in question with no major UK outlet or source close to the club picking up the story as yet.
The 19-year-old made 24 Premier League appearances last term and is expected to become a regular in the national side.
Everton have spent years flirting with relegation largely due to their lack of dynamic attacking threat and the injuries that have plagued Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
Sean Dyche's priority at Goodison Park has to be bolstering the attack and this addition would certainly prove popular among the fans.
Leeds United have yet to move in the transfer market but Gnonto's sale would represent the seventh departure with Marc Roca expected to leave shortly.
