Leeds United announce the return of Sam Byram following his Norwich City exit
Leeds United have confirmed the return of defender Sam Byram ahead of the new Championship season.
Leeds have re-signed defender Sam Byram on a free transfer following his departure from Norwich earlier this summer.
Byram, 29, who made over 140 appearances for Leeds before departing for West Ham in 2016, has agreed a one-year deal at Elland Road.
Leeds said: "Leeds United are delighted to announce Sam Byram has re-signed for the club.
"The full-back arrives back at Elland Road on a free transfer, following the expiration of his contract at fellow Sky Bet Championship side Norwich City."
Byram, who made his professional debut for Leeds aged 18, spent two-and-a-half years at West Ham and had a loan spell at Nottingham Forest before Norwich signed him for £750,000 in 2019.
He has reunited with Leeds head coach Daniel Farke - who was in charge of Norwich for over four years until 2021 - and is the third summer signing at Elland Road following the arrivals of Ethan Ampadu and Karl Darlow.
Farke could include Byram in his starting line-up in Sunday's opening Sky Bet Championship match at home to Cardiff.
