Kevin Behrens finds prime form with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga
Union Berlin striker Kevin Behrens is feeling better than ever in the Bundesliga, and his recent form proves it.
With three goals in five matches in 2023, Behrens has moved ahead of Jordan Siebatcheu in the club's pecking order.
"I'm in my best form right now. Never give up, always work hard, believe in yourself and take the chance," said Behrens in a recent interview with Bild.
The 32-year-old forward took a unique path to reach the Bundesliga, starting in the Regionalliga before joining 2. Bundesliga side Sandhausen in 2018. He then made his way to Union Berlin on a free transfer a year and a half ago.
"My path has not been normal, but I have always accepted the situation because of my passion for football," Behrens stated. "You have to be in the right place and be lucky like I was when Union gave me a chance."
His hard work and determination have paid off, with a recent contract renewal in the German capital. Behrens, a former regional league player, still has ties to his roots. "It's crazy. Former teammates I played with in the regional league often approach me and remind me of those times," he added.
Union Berlin will face RB Leipzig at Red Bull Arena on Saturday, and with Behrens in prime form, they will be looking to make an impact in the Bundesliga.
