Kelechi Iheanacho and Lucien Agoume set to join Sevilla FC squad
Sevilla FC have secured the signing of Kelechi Iheanacho, who is set to arrive in the Andalusian capital tonight, and are finalising the acquisition of Lucien Agoume.
This comes after reaching an agreement with Inter Milan for €4 million for 50% of the Franco-Cameroonian midfielder's rights. These two strategic moves by the Nervion club were solidified over the past weekend and are being completed at the start of this week. These were priority targets for the club's sporting directorate.
In Agoume's case, as reported by Relevo, the deal will see shared ownership between Sevilla and Inter. The Italian club had loaned Agoume to Sevilla with an option to buy for €8 million.
Inter were steadfast on this amount because the player had more financially appealing offers elsewhere. However, Agoume's desire to play for Sevilla was unwavering, leading to a preliminary agreement of €4 million for 50% of his rights. So, what about the rest?
Next summer, Sevilla will have the option to acquire an additional 40% for another €4 million, totalling the €8 million initially demanded by Inter.
Essentially, if Agoume performs well, Sevilla are likely to commit fully. If not, they will retain their 50% stake and the player's federative rights until 2028.
Securing Agoume was one of Sevilla's main objectives in this transfer window, and they've successfully achieved it. He will travel to the city this week to sign his contract. With Iheanacho and Agoume, Sevilla are making significant strides in the market.
Iheanacho, the Nigerian forward known for his goal-scoring prowess, adds firepower to Sevilla's attack. His arrival signals the club's ambition to bolster their offensive options ahead of the new season.
The 27-year-old has previously played for Manchester City and Leicester City in the Premier League, bringing valuable experience and a keen eye for goal.
Agoume, on the other hand, is a promising young talent who has been on the radar of several top clubs. At just 22 years old, he has shown immense potential and versatility in midfield. His decision to join Sevilla over other lucrative offers underscores his commitment and belief in the club's project.
Sevilla's proactive approach in the transfer market reflects their determination to build a competitive squad capable of challenging for honours both domestically and in Europe.
The additions of Iheanacho and Agoume could prove pivotal in achieving their ambitions this season.
