Jose Mourinho compares the difference between Roma and Manchester United

Jose Mourinho has made a sly dig towards former club Manchester United after winning the UEFA Europa Conference League with Roma.

The 59-year-old guided the Italian club to their first European trophy and ended a 14-year drought without a trophy.

The 'Special One' - who inspired the Giallorossi to victory over Feyenoord on Wednesday - won his fifth European title, and Mourinho has now taken a swipe at Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

The Portuguese coach - who won Man United's last trophy in 2017 - said: "As you know I have won European competitions with four different clubs," the Roma manager explained post-match.

"Winning with Manchester United even though it was a Manchester United side that lacked the quality of proper United sides, winning with Manchester United is almost natural.

"Winning the Champions League with Porto is not normal. Bringing joy to people by winning the Champions League with Inter. Inter is naturally a huge club, but I think it was 50 years since they had won the Champions League and brought joy to the fans. Today winning this competition brings joy to the people as well."

Speaking about where the European triumph ranks with trophies won at previous teams, Mourinho added: "I feel like a Romanista, but that might be my way of working.

"I am a Porto fan, an Inter [Milan] fan, a Chelsea fan, I am crazy about Real Madrid, I am now a Roma fan, I belong to all those clubs because we had these moments together.

"The great thing about my career is that, aside from the Europa League with Manchester United, doing it with Porto, Inter and Roma is very, very, very special."

Manchester United are undergoing a new era under Erik ten Hag and have announced Rangnick will not take up his role as a consultant.

Ten Hag won three league titles with Ajax in as many years and guided the Amsterdam side to a Champions League semi-final and a Europa League final in 2017 although they lost to Mourinho's United.
